Thinking in boxes others cannot see: Knowledge Brokering

From thinking in boxes (really?), to out of the box we can now learn how to think in boxes others cannot see. During this presentation I will discuss knowledge brokering, a little bit of network theory and how these concepts together will lead to innovation.

Regional FabLabs & the future of the personal production economy

Dolf Wittkämper – MetaClue and FreeFormFab

‘FabLab’ stands for Fabrication Laboratory, a program started by Neil Gershenfeld of the Center for Bits and Atoms, which is a part of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). A FabLab is a digital, real life, workshop to make almost anything. It makes use of a standard set of machines and open source software. Over time this initiative has grown to a worldwide network of FabLabs. Also in the Netherlands more and more cities have their own FabLab, all with their own accents depending on local circumstances.

FreeFormFab has the ambition to help setup multiple FabLabs in the Brainport area and to facilitate these labs with an online platform and knowledge network. Next year, the first FabLab in the region will be a fact.

Visionscapers.net is a networked innovation company in development. It’s a networked organization consisting of a small but (growing) diverse group of independent professionals who together can help you realize your new product, service or organizational innovation – from vision to success.

We’re living in an age in which new media enables us to communicate, share and organize in much larger groups than was previously possible. This is not only an important enabler for Visionscapers.net, it has also created new opportunities to develop successful innovations. By interacting with users and other stakeholders of an innovation in development on a much larger scale online, it can be successfully developed and stay in continuous development!

This also holds for Visionscapers.net as a organizational innovation. This is why we are launching in to ‘public beta’ (a term used in software development) now.
